Terms of Service

readl.ing is a community platform that connects families in Portugal to share children’s books. We facilitate connections between lenders and borrowers but are not a party to any loan agreement between users.

• You must be at least 18 years old, or a parent/legal guardian acting on behalf of a minor.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.

• One account per person. Do not create accounts for others without their consent.
• You may delete your account at any time from your profile page. This permanently removes all your data, books, loans, and reviews.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

• You may only list books that you own or have the right to lend.
• Book listings must be accurate — title, author, condition, and description should truthfully represent the book.
• You are responsible for the physical condition and safe handling of books you share.
• readl.ing is not responsible for lost, damaged, or unreturned books.

• By requesting a book, you commit to returning it by the agreed due date, or within a reasonable time if no date is set.
• Treat borrowed books with care. Return them in the same condition you received them.
• If a book is lost or damaged, you should arrange fair compensation directly with the lender.

• Reviews must be honest and based on your actual experience.
• Do not post content that is defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, or illegal.
• We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.
• By posting content (reviews, book descriptions, messages), you grant readl.ing a non-exclusive license to display it on the platform.

You agree not to:

• Use the platform to sell books or for any commercial purpose.
• Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users.
• Attempt to access other users’ accounts or private data.
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or spam the platform.
• Upload malicious content, viruses, or files that could harm the service.

readl.ing is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

• The behaviour, reliability, or trustworthiness of any user.
• Loss or damage to books during a loan.
• Any disputes between users — these should be resolved directly between the parties involved.
• Service interruptions, data loss, or errors beyond our reasonable control.

Your use of readl.ing is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of readl.ing after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Lisbon, Portugal.
